Over 100 AFSCME West Virginia activists meet and rally
at the state capitol on President's Day Holiday as they
have for 20 years. State and municipal employees met
with key Senators and Delegates in the East Wing
training/conference room. Senators Hunter and Wells
along with Delegates DeLong, Caputo, Poling and
Peoples-Guthrie all spoke
to members and answered questions.
The entire group then went to an up close and personal
meeting with Governor Manchin in the reception area just
outside his office. As another group spouted rumors and
idle threats down the hall, AFSCME members turned a
planned 15 minute meeting with a couple of questions
into an almost hour long meeting with West Virginia's
Governor during which he answered every question asked.
AFSCME members then converged on the Legislators in
their offices to discuss pay issues, increment pay, PEIA
improvements and other bills of importance with guidance
from AFSCME's lobbyists. |
