Joining AFSCME is as simple as printing the application form (pdf), filling it out, signing it
and then mailing or faxing it back to Council 77's office in Charleston. If
you cannot print a form, call or e-mail Council 77 and a form will be mailed
or faxed to you.
You will receive a new member package with AFSCME's
exclusive members only benefits
AFSCME Advantage,
information on who your representative is and when/where your local union
meets.
AFSCME's union dues in West Virginia are currently $6.99
per week, usually deducted bi-monthly (less than an hour's
pay). This money is used to pay for
representation staff, organizers, research purposes, legal costs and for
legislative activities, including lobbying on behalf of public employees at
the state Capitol and Washington DC. All union funds are audited annually
and spent only with the approval of the members.
